Unit 24 1.1.6

This is peopleperhour.com this is a freelance website like design crowd its also got the same concept you go on give them a quote and they will accept the best deal

Unit 24: Part II - Be able to manage own contracts

I did this project because of the cost of running a household for it costs £185 pound all together so i quoted £300 pound so i have enough to survive in the future incase there is not work coming in I also mention the qualities I was going to give to the company talking about cms and telling them why its a good idea to have a content management system on their website.

Unit 24: Part I - Be Able To Manage Own Systems, Accounts and Records

this is my screenshot of my accounts and records
I did this to make sure that I can manage my money because as a freelancer it is hard to get work from time to time so you need to manage your cash flow by doing this spreadsheet I can calculate all the cost that are coming out of the building to make cuts in the future

Design crowd

this is design crowd where freelance and self employed designers can go on an submit designs which win real money.

My metadata image blog

Here is the metadata image as requested it's the topology image at the top of the page
http://steeletech.elementfx.com/cms/

Freelance Deadlines

I have 2 days to do this project to upload designs to design crowd I would instead of going out or watching tv I would have to adapt to this project and concentrate on my design so i would get up at 8 o'clock and get started on this design and work through until i got the project done because I am hardworking and want to have a better chance of succeeding in a future career

Unit 39 - Undertake Image Asset Management

The organisation would first they would make sure before capturing any images that the data isn't copyrighted then they would then download then image they may use it straight away if the don't they would then edit it and save it in a different format they may want to do this at the start because of compatibility issue they would then upload the image online in their name so they need to make sure that the work isn't copied

The principle of colour management is to make sure that the colour is cross device compatible it may work on one device but it won't on a over that is why it is important to manage your work to make sure that the colours work on all devices use programs like colour scheme designer and other programs to make sure that the colours that you are using work on all devices.

You could duplicate the master copy to make sure that if the original gets lost then you have a back up storing the master copy off site would be a good example storing a hard copy on a flash drive these are all ways to protect your data from  corruption ect.

You may have certain images that are more important than other for example payslip file is more important than a background file so it is important to prioritise these with categories the highest you duplicate copies and store them off site or get flash copies .

Servers are ways to protect files because they have a backup generator if there is a power cut for example   is a power cut and you working on a project you saved it on your pc but there is a power cut your more likely to lose the page than if you have it saved on a server.

For example if you needed to make image larger then and you needed to keep the image integrity the same then you would lock the image on photoshop i talked about this in unit 35 and then that would keep the pixel dimensions the same and enlarge the image you would also duplicate a copy of the image so if you do something wrong then you have the still have the original file still in tact.

You need to sure that the colours used first work on all devices and websites second are to the customer liking by comparing them with other website and the companies brand and product your able to determined if the colours work or not.

You would look at the colour profiles before starting to plan what colour schemes they have used for example they may have use orange and blue then you need to use then colours when designing the image because that their colours you don't want to use opposite colours because they won't work and the client won't want that as a product.

You need to categorise all of the work to make sure that certain images get archived compared to other you don't want to archive a picture of a cat for example because it isn't relevant to the business but you will want to archive the company logo or business pictures because they are relevant to the business which can help more if you lose the original copy.

You need to add caption to images because it tells a description of the image like i said on unit 35 a caption is like a narrator telling you what the image is about that is why it is important it tells the reader what the image is about compared to just the image alone, the image alone people may not understand what the image is about where it was taken a caption describes that image.

As i said in other units copyright is vital if you designing a logo for a money making company so it is vital to make sure you have a copyright on an image before you submit it and also don't copy any logo or designs if you wanting to make money from the company.

You need to watch the images coming in or out of your website to make sure that all monitored have a report button on your website if any images come in that are inappropriate so that the company or yourself can take action against that user taking them images off the website and banning the user which will decrease the chance of this happening again.

If you had archived copies of data you could bit lock the device this means that you have to insert a password before you can see the data this would be useful in a business environment but you can only use it on windows professional and higher which can cause compatibility issues also you could only store it on 1 hard copy to save material and store it in a safe offsite.

You could save your work on a server off site this is better its more secure incase anyone breaks in and steals the hardware the copy is safe and sound off site you could produce a hardcopy and put it in a safe off site this would be useful if their was a fire as the copy would still be in tact off site.

you need to record all the date of any incoming or outgoing traffic to make sure that all data is protected and you know the date or time of data being stolen because if you have data and you record it you keep backups of the images you still can record what be going on with them images at that time.

The data protection act is the main type of legislation that is relevant to the asset management because you need to protect data from anyone that gets their hands on it that is why it is vital to have security in place so that certain people can see that document an other legislation is the copyright make sure that your data is protected before putting it online.

Like I said in unit 35 tempering with the health and safety signs you mess around with the signs tamper it at all it can be a breech in the health and safety act and you could face prosecution an other example is eye strain sitting at the computer for two long can cause eye strain do a dse test before using the computer.

Make sure you do a risk assessment before doing any work because you will have problems when you have employees evaluate any risks say what will happen if them risks happen and how you will combat them issue which can decrease the chance of an injury in the workplace.

Like I said above doing a risk assessment will show up any problems that have occurred and where you can fix them by getting a health and safety executive to make sure that any problems they can fix them and then if there is a problem in the future they can fix it.

you need to make sure by using a contract that all work is being followed if not you have the contract to tell them that they are going wrong and where they can improve.

you need to check with the copyright laws to make sure that the image isn't copyright and if it is what you need to ask their permission before doing so.

like I said in unit 35 you need to sure that any pictures that have been uploaded won't offend anyone and won't hurt anyone before putting the image online.

Unit 35 - Undertake Technical Adjustment of Images

Colour theory is the basic wheel of colours and what colours for example if you mix green with yellow then that you a lime green it is all the primary colours red, yellow, green and blue colour management is making the colours work on all devices for example i create a website using google chrome using the colours I want then I go onto a different browser and the colours are darker or lighter that is colour management been able to select colours that work together and also work on all browsers/devices. colour mode is the rub colours red yellow green blue all mixed together to make a table of colours its like the colour theory.

it is vital that certain images are compatible for the requirement given for example I create a website and I want the background to be 2000 px by 1200 px i need to find a image that will work well with my website so i need to find an image or if I can find an image I will have to design one that will fit you need to take into consideration if the background image going to me fixed or repeat and then you will to design your background image accordance to what you have chosen for example if its on repeat then you don't want to many colours or it will clash when you scroll down the page. you also need to determine what file format it going to be for example psd images don't work online so you will need to convert it to jpg, png are really the only file formats you can use when inserting images to your website.

When designing an image you need to take in consideration the file size pixel dimensions, resolution. the file size is determind by the image size the pixel dimension and the resolution pixel dimension is important when creating your image pixel dimensions is the amout of pixels on the screen for example I have an image that is 5 px by 5 px i increase that to 10 px hight and width you are increase the pixels on the screen this can effect the image because you download a image that is 250 px hight and width you increase that to 1000 px that going to lower the quality it going to make your page blurry and not very attractive you can use dimension locks on photoshop where you can lock on the image and then make it larger without effecting the quality. resolution the the quality of the image it is what I said before a picture that is 250 px has a better resolution than if you increase it to 1000px.

It is important to have accurate technical data because people will be reading your blog, website ect and if you got information that is not accurate then there going to go down the wrong wrote which will effect is lose of respect for your company and not read the rest of the data the metadata is the most important bit of data so get to double or triple checked proof read it double check on the internet and ask someone to read over it to make sure that it is accurate

It is very important to have the correct equipment before doing a project because you would be a professional and clients would be expecting the best quality of work so get a digital camera that shoots in high resolution also get programs like photoshop and illustrator to edit your photos and you will have a better chance of succeeding in your career.

The different file formats are the most common file format is jpg this is an image file that is very common because of its compatibility on every program and website and even every device the problems with jpg are its only a static image so it hard to edit on photoshop which can be a problem on a tight deadline the other file format is png this is very useful if your doing a website and you want just the image not the background because png doesn't have a background image also it is  very easy to edit compared to jpeg the only problem is compatibility png isn't as compatible as jpg which can be a problem for people on a tight deadline.

You need to agree on what files you want on the product for example I'm creating a website for a client  I need to make sure that they give me a background image of 2000 px so it won't effect the resolution and any other images and I will also need to take to the parties about file formats because of corruption or compatibility issues if a certain image is given.

The most popular type of hardware used for editing images is mac because of less virus on its operating system, mac is much more popular with designers / developers because of its reliability because they uploading stuff online and mac is more secure than windows. the software programs you should use are photoshop for photo editing illustrator or Inkscape for designing products.

You would use google images to source images onto your product by searching in the picture with the size and file format google images will come up with a list of images with that size and file format you may not find what you want but you are most likely to find something useful on google images compared to image based websites.

To import an image onto an editing software  you go onto the program and go to file>open>go to the the file you want to import and click open then the image will be on your screen ready to use.

You May design a website background it looks good but it won't work on the website because of the size or because of the detail it looks weird on the website so you design a image that looks horrible but works really well on your website that is the problem you have as a designer you need to design a image that looks good and works well setting the background image to fixed changing the colours use colour viewing software programs to see what colours work with what are all ways to improve your product.

If you had an incompatible image you would take the image  and go back onto the editing software you would keep the source file incase they want to edit it in the future and then you save it on a different file format upload it and if that doesn't work keep on trying different files and formats but don't delete the original incase this problem occurs in the future.

To produce an image the all the clients would like you would review all of their past files and images to see what colours they used what colours worked with what what patterns worked with what you would look for a trend to make sure that when you design the product all the clients like your product and ask for your assistance in the future.

Like I said above you would keep the source file because the client may want future edits you would show the client the finished product and then see what they agree and what they wanted to improve for example they like the background but they didn't like the content because you have the source file you can go and improve form where you have gone wrong on.

you need to communicate with colleagues to make sure that they agree on the ideas you have when creating an image for example i say lets use red and my college says use green then we have to come to some sort of agreement mix red and green see what colour comes up that we both agree on because if we don't all agree your colleagues work will be of a lower quality because they can't imaging what the project will be like at the end which can effect your reputation at the end.

You need to make sure that any images that you are using for a business environment arn't copyrighted because your making money from the business and if your using someone else logo or brand then you can be prosecuted so if your designing a logo for a money making business make sure that they are all done by hand and aren't outsourced.

If you were going to save the file save the source file as psd, svg, fla and then also save a backup file the file your going to use jpg,Png,swf and also archive the copies incase you lose a copy you have one as backup which is vital on a tight budget.

Copyright is the main legislation they might state that the logo stays that size and if you change the size then your copy there work and if they got a copyright then your violable for prosecution so its important to ask companies before using their products.

You may have to follow the heath and safety act if your creating images for safety signs for example for pep you can edit that picture at all because it would be a brech in heath and safety because people would not know what the sign stood for so.

You need to make sure that any images doesn't offend anyone for example you create a logo for a poilictial party you need to make sure that the image your showing dosen't offend anyone because everyone going to see it and you also don't resize certain images that won't offend  people because if you do they won't be prosecuted, you will be the one prosecuted for creating offensive images.

Like I said above offending people will be the greatest challenging also copyright issues so make sure if its a touchy subject make sure you research similar designs and get ideas on how they touched on the subject also copyright research products to see what designs are already taken and after you design it get it copyright so your design can't be copied and they will check to see if your design already been produced before showing it to the public.

You may need to take a patent out before designing the product so that anyone can steal your plans and make the product in their name after the product finished you will need to have take out a copyright on your product to make sure no one copy your product and if your trading your product you will need to have a trade mark so your able to trade with other companies in that name.

you will need to keep certain images confidential because of the data protection act you can only send images if you been given their permission for example family photo website they can't give their photo to other companies because of the data protection act they can only if the customer says its ok to.

you need to follow the companies rules because its their reputation on the line and if you don't follow their rules you can lose your job you also need to use their system because of the data protection act certain data may not be allowed out the building so you will need to use their systems to do your work.

Unit 24 - Manage and Market Own Freelance Services

The type of contacts you would have would be first a designer if you were a client/developer who would  need someone to design the product or if you were a designer/client then you would need contact with a developer to make you can take them drawing and produce a fully functioning product. you may also need contact with financial company because you may have to borrow money to buy a new pc to keep up with the demand also you may need to buy software programs which can cost up to £2000 so you will need to keep on contact with them also if your a designer/developer you will need to keep in regular contact with the clients to make sure that you can get feedback and make the product to their specification.

Design crowd is the main example of a business contact that I use in the creative and digital media sector. Design crowd  is a business website where designer can upload projects and designs for clients and the winner wins real money this is very useful for freelancers because they can work for an employer and also work on design crowd its free to sign up and is very easy to use a very useful tool in the creative and digital industry.

To participate with relevant networks your expanding your expertise for example if you did a project for a successful company and you did a excellent job for them then they may talk with companies they may trade with ect and they will then come to you and ask for you to do a project for them this will support your freelance activity because your getting business, and also making money from the projects.

advertisement is the main example of a strategic to gain reputation you advise on a website your going to get much much more advertisement compared to not doing so you could offer your first few jobs at a really low rate so low they cant refuse the offer which will then draw in business if you do a good job.

design crowd is a implemented system you go on look for the client you want to do a job for the one you think you got the best chance of winning and then design the product and upload it onto design crowd this is a implemented system because design crowd is in place for you to get work all you have to do is search the web for any designs you think you have the best chance of winning.

The companies your likely going to get work for are construction companies, engineering, logistic companies you are less likely to get it work because of certain people experience the agents you properly get are recruitment companies like reeds who may supply you with certain project work if your doing unemployed work also design crowd are the main agent they get you the work for these certain companies.

college courses or training courses are a great example of improving your own development for example you may have get a new operating system you may got a new piece of software program you don't know what to do with them then you would go on a training course to improve your skills to increase the chance of getting work with will increase the chance in future success.

To seek constructive feedback you would show the client the finished product and then ask them to be honest as possible then you would take that feedback and improve depending on what feedback they sent that is what constructive feedback is it is taking and giving honest feedback.

you would set hour many hours you work for a project to make sure that all the jobs that are done are done in time but also because your a freelance designer you need to make sure that your first job is getting done to the highest standard also you need to review your own performance before doing a project because it may be out of your scope for example you may be a designer and you get a project in for a website you have to develop it but you got no development skills you need to make sure that you get training in that area but it you can then you need to either hire someone who can if that would cost to much then you would need to recognized the project and choose a other one and finally you need to make sure you hit the business targets by spending the least amount of money on a project but also that you do the most projects as possible in a year to make sure that you hit them targets.

As I said above working flexible is vital if your wanting to become a freelance designer because you need to make sure that all your work is at equal priority for example if you have a job for your self employed job and you work on that job for most of the time then your other job your main job where your making money for working is going to be weak.

You need to make appropriate business decisions because you may have loads of work coming in but you may not want to invest loads in new computers for example because you may not get any work maybe next week that will mean your losing money where if you didn't spend that money on them new computers then you would be able to spend the money or electricity ect instead of losing money.

you would use a spreadsheet to calculate budget to make sure that your calculating all the bills and the income currently coming into the company you will also archive files and folders to make sure they dont get  lost or damaged and if they do you have back ups.

As I said about you would input the date into the spreadsheet you can make it calculate a certain row you can do this on excel all you do is put in the data and excel will do the rest that is why excel is so useful for business management.

You may want to buy it support if your computers breaks or go down because if your pc broke then your going to lose money until you fix it but if you contact technical support and your covered by their warranty then they will be able to fix your problem which will let you continue with your business.

you need to plan ahead of cash flow like what I said about one day you may have a load of work coming into your business and then you will have none this is why it is vital to make sure that you manage you cash flow in case of this emergency.

You need to have an agreement about the rate of pay per hour and for them paying you what work your doing like an employment contract a agreement for a job is an agreement between the freelancer and the client also you need to make sure you tell the tax office that your working self employed because of tax issue that is why it is important to review the legal requirement before having a career as a freelancer.

Like I said above you need to agree on how long the job is going on for and compare that to your rate of pay for example you may charge £150 for a 20 hour project and £250 for a 40 hour project but the employer wants it my next week you cant do that so you need to make sure you are at. you also need to agree about other expenses for example you create a website they want a co.uk address that cost money that other expenses its outside the freelances range.

You need to talk to the  client saying what the benefits would be if they choose  them for example you can say I will create a professional, neat tidy website with a flash header and footer that is showing the performance outcome you telling the client what they will get if they choose them.

You need to make sure that the client gives you all the stuff they want on their product for example I create a website using dreamweaver i upload it I have no content off the client i show the client and then they will have to pay me extra to insert that content onto the web this can be damaging to me and to them that is why it is vital to make sure you tell the client for all the content that they want on the website before doing so.

You need to make sure that if you have any problems issues you need to communicate with the client in the most clear form as possible speak in non technical gargin and this will help the client understand what the problem is if you speak in technical gargin then they are not going to understand which will lose confidence in yourself and also their technical knowledge which can cause problems in the future.

You need to produce two copy of the document to make sure that you have a copy and they have a copy you also need to make sure that you scan the document and archive it put it on a usb stick, on the computer so if something happens that is not agreed you can go back to the document which will be very useful in the future.

Unit 27 – 2D Animation for Interactive Media Products

interactive animation makes the reader interact with the webpage with the use of animation this can be very useful depending on your target audience for example if your designing a website for the younger audience they are most likely to get bored by static images so it is important to add animation to the website this may catch their attention and stay on your webpage longer but if your doing a website for the older audience you would create a static website because of eye problems more likely in the older audience you won't want to put flashing lights on moving images on a website they are going to be off putted by the webpage.

computer animation is the object that moves this is done by frames for example you have a notepad and paper you want to create animi nation you have to do them moving in every single angle before it looks like there doing moving on the page, each of them pages are frames and all the frames create animation it makes the reader think that the screen is moving but there is a load of frames changing at a very fast rate.

Clients usually want a product that can draw the customers attention but also to make it look professional for example a client wants to create a video website this is drawn to the younger audience they would ask designers/developers to create a product that looks professional and make is attract the current audience this is a brief/specification you are briefing people on what to do and you're specifying how you want it done.

The purpose of flash animation is to make the reader think that something is moving catch their attention most designers/developers the purpose of their design is to make people think how they create that and recommend the product to their friends which will increase revenue.

The younger audience will want a product that looks professional looks trendy, bold, colourful better quality at a cheaper price compared to an older audience they will want something that does the job not to technical but looks professional and properly would charge the same price as the younger audience.

It could be entering the website and it says click here to enter you may click enter and a flash header may appear straight away advising products you want to do this to catch the readers attention or you could be playing a game and you enter a certain level and a banner appear advertising something you want the reader to draw their attention to the product at that time.

It could be used on a website as a header saying welcome to my website you could have it on the footer saying click the links below you could have it in the contact area, advisement ect it could also be used on movies  animation, certain section of the movie to catch the readers attention.

you may have a perfect logo/design but when you create it on flash it do sent look professional it docent look neat or tidy at all that the problem designers/developers have the problem is that they need to create a product that looks professional as static but also as animated because the younger audience have less of an attention span compared to the older audience so if you designing a header that you want the reader to notice you need to do it fast but also make it look professional which is a very hard problem when creating animation.

As I said before usually companies want animation that looks professional but also catches the target audience which is a hard thing to do that is why it is important that the brief and the specification is review to make sure that product is done to the correct time but also looks professional and eye catching.

when creating a flash animation I would make it very easy to understand very easy to change for the client that is why it is important to show the other parties how to insert flash i would show other parties my product to make sure that they liked the pro ducted and if they didn't where I wan improve for example if i did a header they didn't like they can say they don't like it and I can improve from their.

I would save the flash file either in swf, fla and then it would depend on what type of software program your using for example if i was using adobe flashcs5.5 i would save the file as a fla/swf cs5.5

i would give it a flash with the name convention so they understand that this isn't just a normal image for example website header flash.swf that would be the name i would give if it was a flash header

Unit 25 - Produce Copy for Interactive Media

The constraints are depending on the audience for example the younger audience are going to want something that looks less professional more colourful compared to someone who is older they want something more professional less colour this can be a problem for designers because they want to make sure that their product is the most eye catching this can be a problem when designing the product.

The main constraint when using a content management system is coding issues because its very strict compared to html if you make a tiny mistake it can effect your website vastly it can also be an issue changing the background image ect which needs skills to change and is not user friendly. The advantages of a content management system is that it is very easy to use which can be very useful for clients.

If you had a younger audience then you're going to make sure that the style is suitable for them add more colour make it look less professional but more eye catching compared to a style for an older audience where you need to make it look more professional add less colour but also not to make it to boring which can put off certain audiences if it was for all audience then you need to add colour to your product but also make it look professional.

The main constraint is if they work together you may have a text that you like you put it into your product but it dosen't look right that is the problem you have making your website look the most professional and eye catchy.

You can spell check and text to make sure that all spelling is spelt correctly you could have some to read what you have written to make sure that everything spelt correct grammar/punctuation.

You need to structure you content so that its easy to read for example if you had it with 8 px at the bottom of the page people aren't going to read it because of the size and where it is position you also need to make sure that the text is easy to find so that readers can read your article.

You can test you website on different web browser by clicking the preview button on dreamweaver and this will show your website on that certain browser for example for my website I built it on chrome but I tested it on chrome, opera, firefox, internet explorer and safari and after looking at the results I came to the conclusion that chrome is fully working so it opera but internet explorer and safari their still is problems so i need to redesign it so it works on all browsers.

when inserting text into my website I make sure that all the stuff that is copied is annotated i would also format it to make sure that the text is easy for anyone to read i would also check my spelling after completing a piece of work checking the spelling but also checking for grammar I would also ask someone else to read it if it was to some importance i would also check the style to make sure that the  text works well with the product and make sure it works well.

I made captions of my blogs to describe what the picture is about captions are bits of text that describe a picture they are like someone talking about  a picture they give a brief of what the picture is about act you also need to give a good description of the picture to give the reader a better understanding in what your talking about ect.

I inserted clear hyperlinks when doing my website and my blog to make sure that the reader a better example of what I'm talking about for example my portfolio i needed to show the reader more about website so I put a link in my webpage to make sure the reader can see fully what I have done and to also provide feedback either on my blog or my website about my portfolio.

My portfolio and my 1 page website is the best example of metadata because they have links to other websites for example my portfolio has links to Facebook, twitter, design crowd, you tube which when you click on them it goes to an other website the definition of meta data is a set of data that describes and gives information about other data so my portfolio is the metadata is is the source of all my data.

I would look on the internet on two or three websites to make sure that the information I am giving is correct also I would ask someone who has knowledge in that subject to see what their opinion is which can help identifying issues if it is wrong i would write on forums or ask a specialist about the issue.

I would change the text ect to make sure that it complies with the data protection act the computer misuse act also copyright trademark patent intellectual properties.

Unit 07 – Creative Industry Awareness Unit 09 - Awareness of Health & Safety in the Creative Media Sector

The industry in the creative media section are designer people who design products for example create magazines, logos ect. you have web designers who just design web content you have developers someone who takes them designers and produces them into a fully functioning website you also have programmers how take designers and program it into a piece of software ect.

In an organisation you may have a web designer and web developers this is cross industry you taking two different jobs and making them collide in the same workplace this is very common in the creative and digital media sections because you need designers to communicate with developers and if they work in the same workplace then there going to get to know each other which can make their communication skills be much more advance than employer in two different workplaces.

designers need to have a good working relationship with developers because they both have role to do the designers need to design the product and the developers need to make sure that they code the designers they both need to have an opinion what will work well what won't work act.

the first person in the creative media project cycle is a planner a planner is someone who plans an ideas which can then goes to a designer the designer designs the products then you got the developer who takes them designs and turns them into a fully working product and finally there is the consumers who evaluate the product and can give feedback which the planner will read so he can improve in the future.

It depends a design company aims might be to make the best looking design for their client at the cheapest price which can cause more business a developer company may want to product the most function product with the least bugs which will cause more business in the future.

A specific team will have a better relationship than anyone else in the working environment they work together more they have to communicate more compare to anyone else where they may only see them when there entering the building or at brakes or lunch

you have a leader or a supervisor who supervisors who watches whats going on they are a sub managers they do the job as a manager but on a smaller scale there is designer and developers who work together to product the best designs.

the planner has to make sure that the product will  work before sending to the designer the designer has to make sure that the designs look professional and eye catching the developer needs to make sure that the product is fully functioning and has the least bugs as possible.

Unit 06 – Ensure Your Own Actions Reduce Risks to Health & Safety

one of the main hazards in my workplace is lose cables they are a tripping hazard you should either tie them up or buy cable guard's ect a other hazard is bear cables on sockets act you need to make sure that no cables are not bear if so report it to someone to fix the problem. eye strain is a other problem in the workplace to prevent that turn the brightness down and take regular breaks.

my responsibility is to evaluate the area to make sure that their isn't any lose cable, bear cables also i need to make sure that i protect my health and safety while in the workplace and also other people health in safety for example if i change a cable on the computer I have to make sure that the cable is not lose so that myself and other people can't trip on it and also that the cable not bear to make sure myself and other people don't get an electric shock.

you would first evaluate the risk to see if its in your scope if not then you would then report it to your supervisor/manager which they would they fix or seek higher advice on the issue if its a building issue e.g. the lift broke you would report it to the building owners or your supervisor/manager about the issue.

the report issue if there is a problem e.g. with cables ect they you need to report it to your instructor or if someone is behaving in a unsafe manor.

people running around in the workplace when their is lose cable etc they can trip over and do damage to them self they could do damage to someone else and they could do damage to equipment which cost the company lots in repairs so that makes it vital also tame ring with equipment e.g. changing the power setting this can cause a fire which can cost the company a lot of money it can also cost lives because of electric shock and burns of the fire.

Running around in the workplace because you could do damage to yourself and to someone else unlike changing the power setting would be worst you are most likely to do that on purpose compared to running around you might be in a hurry and is more common in the workplace. A other example is putting chairs in the fire exit this would be a hazard to myself and to others because their would be an obstacle to overcome if a fire occurred.

you would implement a plan of what you need to change to prevent this issue e.g. lose cable you would advise your managers to buy cable guards or cable ties to prevent tripping also if there was a serious issue that was against the health and safety act you would isolate the machine for example and report it straight away telling them about the issue so they could fix it.

the health and safety act do sent cover everything in your workplace for example running around in the workplace that is not in the health and safety act so its your responsibility to not run around and cause damage which can go against the health and safety act which can mean prosecution for your employer.

if there was a problem like a bag in the walkway this can be a tripping hazard and can cause a lot of problems this is why you need to make sure that you move that bag this is not the responsibility of the employer because that is an outside bit of equipment it's not their property so its not their responsibility to look after the product.

moving bags, moving cable so it's not a tripping hazard, clearing desks these are all way to reduce the risk of an accident in the workplace.

the workplace depending on the environment depends on the level of health and safety needed for example in a office will require less health and safety than in a factory where they require more health and safer with suppliers they need a bit more health and safety they need training in manual handing to make sure that their fit to work in that enviroment a manufacture environment you need a lot of health and safety training because of you using machines which can be very hazardous.

client website

I created a website for a friend of mine who wanted a gaming website created for him the url is http://swsgaming.web44.net/ and he wanted me to create a website using the colours black, white and red and thats how I came up with this idea I showed him the design and he liked the concept.

Unit 05 – Contribute to Good Working Relationships

The key roles that are in the production process are first you have a designer someone who design the product from their own ideas or from others then you got someone who takes them ideas and develops it into a product and finally you got the consumer who takes that product and uses it in their day to day lives.

a contact is the main type of document that is a working agreement is a  a document that is signed by the employer and the employee stating what hours they work what breaks they work holiday entailment ect so it is important to have these working agreement to make sure that the employee is happy and they have agree to them terms so they can't complain about the hours or so on and the employer can't sack anyone for taking entitled holidays only working the hours that are agreed and so on.

It is important to balance workload because you need to have a good relationship with people because if you don't then their is going to be a lack of communication which will cause problems with work if you have to work as part of a team and so on. you have also be focused to your work because if your not focused to your work then their will be a lack of work which can mean a loss for the company so you have to balance your social life and your work in the workplace to have a better chance of succeeding.

If you share information with colleges your Lessing the chance of causing human error because they might have done something wrong and you share your information they will see where they gone wrong and improve it, it also increase productivity which is very useful in the workplace.

you may ask your employees to change to change they're working agreement you can ask them to work more hours on one day because their getting more stock in then you get the work in and on days when there is no work coming into the workplace your paying the employees to sit around doing nothing which can be cost effective so changing the working agreement helps you because the hours the employees working you get more productivity which is vital in this current economic times.

You need to describe your desiccation very clear to the employee or employer to make sure that they understand what you're saying which can increase the chance of highly productive products you also need to be constructive to make sure that they take that feedback and improve this can improve productivity or even there work place in what they're working at.

To resolve conflict you need to come up with an agreement with the two parties get them in a room and say what each person has done wrong and how they are going to improve on it this can increase a working relationship in your workplace which can increase productivity in the future you also need to take what they said if their dissatisfied then you need to take their feedback and improve to make sure that your happy and their happy.

If you talk to employees then you get a good idea of their level of knowledge which can be important when explaining a new ideas which they can understand which in effect can increase productivity.

you would research the market to see what areas are weak and where they can come in and make the most impact on the market for example computers apple were out long before windows but windows seen an opportunity in selling cheap operating system which now has made them the most successful operating system.

my flash banner

this is my flash banner
This is my flash banner I started of by design it by sketching it out as you can see it starts off at the top of the page and ends in the middle where the banner is i wanted to do this to make sure that it looks like the words are flying on the screen after doing the sketch I designed it adobe flash cs5.5 by adding different frames and editing it to make sure that the text fly onto the screen after I saved it as swf file and upload it onto my appscoop website because of issues with flash on concrete5 I had to put it on my appscoop website url http://appscoop.x10.mx/footerflash.swf

asking for help on concrete5 forum page

this is me adding a topic to the forum page about problems with flash

Unit 04 – Professional Behaviour in the Creative Media Sector

culture in the workplace will be different where ever you go anywhere around the world for example someone in the middle east will have a different compared to a media company in the uk for example the company in the middle east will most likely have somewhere to worship compared to the company in the uk where the won't media company in china may have to be careful on what they design because of the laws compared to companies in the west where they will have a bigger range of ideas they can design without offending anyone. Also it can also be a difference in culture in the uk as well for example their maybe someone who has learnt to be very confident then they could do presentations and speeches compared to someone that is quite this can vary for workplace to workplace because some company may be confident to do presentations and speeches which will make the working environment very loud but deliver results compared to a other media workplace where it would be very quite and very relaxed.

challenging behaviour in the workplace is something that someone does in the workplace which can hurt or humiliate the company from not following health and safety rules to using your mobile in the workplace also using the computers for personal use instead of business use can also be challenging behaviour because your making managers ect challenge your behaviour.

if there was a fire you would report to your supervisor, managers the building owners ect if it was a work issue e.g. computers not working you would report it to your supervisor or computer technician about the problem if it was a problem with the lift you would report it to the building owners so they can fix the problem.

Employees would be more calm than employers because employees only have to do their job and employers have to make sure that the employee are making enough production and also make sure that there making money for them they need to act more professional than employees.

Being professional in the creative and digital media section world be going up the hierarchy in the creative and digital media sector for example someone who's just finished a course in creative and digital media then they go into be a designer / developer they would be professional because they have done a course which will give them a level knowledge a professional can be stated as two things being professional acting mature, following instructions, following health and safety rules they can be classed as professional behaviour also professional behaviour can be able to do your job and thats by starting at the bottom of the hierarchy and moving up in the industry.

Unit 03 – Awareness of Converging Digital Technology within the Creative Media Sector

computers are the main type of technology used in the creative media sector with everyone every type of person using them from graphical designer to web developers graphical designers may use scanners/printers to print out work or insert work the same with web designers, web developers would not use printers/scanners on a regular basis, they will also use mobile devices to communicate with clients, tablets act  they will also use certain software programs photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver, act to design their work on a pc

graphical designers would use printers/scanners they would use photoshop, illustrator to design their work

web designers would also use printers/scanners but will also use photoshop, illistrator, dreamweaver ect

Web developers would really only use dream weave and other web development software programs.

copyright is a big issue within the creative a digital media section if you had a design you don't want anyone to copy you would copyright it and if a person copy that design you can take them to court because you paid to make sure that your design is protected file sharing is a legal if the product your downloading docent require a licence because you're sharing stuff which in a way can help that person your copying from get publisity its illegal if the product is copyright because your sharing data that is protected from doing so in most cases this can damage a company and that is why they got a copyright in place to make sure that their data can't be copied.

converging technology is all different formats getting transferred or getting used at the same time e.g. video and audio is converging technology because your showing video and you're showing audio.

it has really change the creative and digital section because people can now put videos music pictures text on their webpage ,magazine ect which can be useful instead of putting a picture on 1 page and text on the other because of conflicting issues.

Audience now a days expect better products for cheaper prices with big competition these days companies have to designer better products at a cheaper price on demand tv most customers now expect that for free or included in the tv package because of the increase In competition.

media companies are able to reach out to the less tech knowledge people for example someone may not be that technical minded so they may only have 1 platform so companies design products to work with multi platform to make sure that that person buy their product it can cost more to make and take longer but overall it will make the company more money

Paypal is the main example of a Safeway to buy something online you buy maybe a game and you have to pay commotion to use Paypal which can be annoying to some customers because they have to pay extra to use that service.

The media can exploit converging technology for example if someone catches a celebrity they could video it and send it to the media who will exploit that person in question which can be damaging to them but if there wasn't converging technology then their would not be as much news because of the evidence factor.

youtube is the most popular type of converging technology online it was established in 2005 and is widely used around the world it is used on every platform and can be translated to every language around the world you tube you can post video either with audio or without and people can comment depending on that video but their is a downside to it exploring people not even celebrities online you can do with you tube people that are not even in the news can post things that can effect people or events that news companies can't broadcast which is a bad side.

Unit 02 - Communicating and Presenting Ideas in the Creative Media Sector

you can communicate to people by telephone this is appropriate if you need to communicate with some some very quickly to get their response and emotion it is also useful compared to email because you can determined the persons personality when speaking to them on the phone. with email it is effective if you need to send an image file, if you haven't got time to contact the person you can send a quick email to them instead of talking to them on the phone cost it dosent cost anything to send an email compared to a phone call which can cost a lot of money if used frequently. voip e.g. Skype this can be useful to save money because it is free to contact money if they are also on Skype but can be very time consuming. over webcam this can be useful if to save travel miles instead of the person fly over which can cost money you can communicate with them over webcam. memos you can send them to multiple people which is useful to send a quick message to loads of people without telling them 1 by 1 which can be very time consuming.

to communicate ideas effectively you should talk to the person face to face it is the most effective because you can feel their emoting which can lead to a better response from them if thats not the case then you can talk to them by webcam you get to see their face which is effective to get a response from them if thats not the case then by telephone or voip is your next best bet because your hearing their voice which is useful to determined how they will react to certain circumstances. if you can't talk to them by phone then email you're only other option this won't be very effective because you won't hear or see them they may not even read it which will waste your time in the first place.

To give constructive feedback you are as honest as possible this will help the person so then can improve on future projects to get your approval if you're receiving feedback then you take that feedback and you improve your product depending on your feedback.

you can show videos and talk to people in presentation to make sure that all types of audience understand what your saying you have to evaluate your audience to determind you may have a less technical minded audience so you make the presentation more clearer and take more time to explain words to make them understand what your saying you may also want to show them videos or sound to make them understand better than just speaking. if its a more technicals audience you will not explain many words because you don't won't to humiliate their technical knowledge which is why you need to spend less time talking.

Unit 01 – Awareness of Employment within the Creative Media Sector

full time as you can feel by the name is you're working over a certain about of hours usually over 25 hours in a week is classed as full time with full time employment you dedicate your work for most of the time compared a part time job where you only dedicated to your work for only part of the time. a fixed contact is  when you sign the contract you have agree their terms and you or them can't change the contract at any time you agree them terms until a certain time.freelance is where you work either full time or part time for your main job and then your self employed on the side it means your employed by an employer but your also self employed which means you work for yourself.

if you work full time its is an impossibility to get an other job because of the hours worked with full time work with part time work you can juggle two or three jobs at the same time and still work the hours as a part time job but the problems with a part time job is you are at an increase risk of losing your job in this hard economic times and the pay is less than the same hours on a full time job which can be a problem to certain people and with the hard economic situation it is harder to find 1 job mind two or 3 jobs to pay the same wage as a full time job. with a freelance you can work full time and then work on the side as self employed this can be useful if you need any money and don't want to take to big of a risk. with a fixed contract the employer can't change anything to make more money out of you by working longer and getting less pay the only way they can is if you agree if they don't then its against the law and they can get prosecuted.

full time: better pay, more benefits like pensions ect, looks better on cv, more holidays and breaks compared to part time work

part time: you can juggle 2 or three jobs at the same time, more time to work from home at be at home

Freelance: make more money than just full time/part time work if your successful, less of a risk than just working self employed because you have already got some income going in.

Full time you are more secure compared to part time because you're their longer which means the employer can get more work from you which can mean more production but also employers may have to make full time employers only part time because of their wages.

It depends on the job certain jobs you can be flexible in the hours that you work the breaks and lunch breaks you pay certain jobs will let you be flexible but other jobs you will have to work the hours and the breaks that are given by the employer.

it depends on the job some jobs the company will automatically deduct it from your pay slip and they will pay for it on your behalf other jobs like if your self employed you will have to pay your own tax and national insurance free lance will also need to pay their own tax either for their self employed side but sometimes even their main employment as well.

graphical design companies: Foundry 34, Ng technology, zelo creative limited, clockwork design & new media, jigsaw design studios, fluid pixels, carrot media

web design companies: Ng technology, zelo creative limited, th_nk clockwork design & new media, Indigo Multimedia , Tricycle media, cravens.

Graphical design you need experience with photoshop/fireworks/illustration you need to be good at art with experience

Web design need experience using html/css you need experience using dream weave but also photoshop and illustrator.

I would go on job sites to look for graphical designers, web designers , web developers or I would apply for recruitment agencies who would find you work you would need a portfolio of your designs if you were going to apply for a graphic designer, you would need to show all of your websites that you have designed a web developer would need to make sure that they also show the web sites that they have developed.
